I hope this is not a really stupid question but why are some Cynops pyrrhogaster so pale? Is it the race or environment, food or age ...?
Mine are almost black. From the pictures on this website Mophological Charactaristic of Cynops pyrrhogaster I'd say most look quite dark (even though you can only see the bellies so maybe I'm wrong).

It's not a stupid question at all. I also wonder why this is. Probably this form is cut off from the rest of the pyrrhogasters somehow.
