Hi guys.

So, I took a few nice photos of Ron the other night.

Tonight, when feeding him, I noticed lots of tiny little white 'worms' sticking to the inside of the tank. Barely 1mm long. Any ideas what they could be? They were to small to photograph!

hmm what do you feed him?

I feed mine worms and noticed i had small little white worms on the side of my tank, was told they should be harmless as long as they dont actually attach to my axies.

They have all gone now aswell so have no idea what they were.

Earthworms.

And before people comment on his small gills, they are actually a lot better now than they were when i got him 4 months ago. His middle left gill also, has always faced forwards.

Good lookin fella, eh?:bowl:

yeh i think it must be something the worms have on them then, i give mine a good clean before hand now and have had no problems since.

He looks like my bam bam.

I think its maybe planaria, they aren't 'gangly' enough to be threadworms.

What is the cause of this, though?

In my case, at the moment, I have no live plants and he always eats his food straight away. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm no expert on the topic so i can't really say what the cause is. What i have found in other threads is:
they are detritus worms and are signs that you may need a water change. They usually start showing up when there's overfeeding, large bio-loads, or underfiltration of the tank.

They are generally considered to be pretty harmless, but if you are concerned here is a thread with info on how to remove them.

Hey Mike,

They are great photos of Ron.
I love your tank set up
You must have a really good camera to take the close up shots

I have some too on my newt tank. Not many though; I don't over feed but I do leave food in for a while (a few hours) and take it out. I feed frozen bloodworms. I'm half cleaning them again tonight.

Hello. I’m looking for some input. My axolotl is about 7 months old. I came home and her gills are completely white. I was reading that they do shed around this age. Could this be why her gills are white? The ph is 6.5-7. Nitrates are 80 Nitrites 0.5

My axolotl’s gills have turned completely white. she is about 7 months old. I fed her a couple of pellets to see if she would eat. One hit her head and she flipped out. Started darting all around the tank. Temp, ammonia, nitrates are all in range. Anyone know why this is happening? I pu

I believe my axolotl is constipated. I got him 8 days ago and have not seen any poop in his tank. I have a 20 gallon tank. No other tank mates. 2 hides and a bare bottom. I didn't feed him the last two days. His belly looks swollen and dark in color. I believe it is the food you can see. I fed him blood worms and soft quick sinking axoloty pellets. I tested his water today. Ph was 7.6. The nitrite and nitrate were both zero. The ammonia was 0.25 ppm. I was advised to cycle my tank due to the lack of nitrate. I added Seachem stability 10 ml to my tank yesterday and 5 ml today. I have a tank chiller. The water temp is set at 64. He is still active, but his tail floats up when he is moving about the tank. I am on the fence about fridging him. I also don't know how long to go without feeding him. I don't want to harm him. Please help asap. Thank you.
