Hi, im a new memeber and thought i'd put up a picture of our new babies

I would like to point out that we will be changing the gravel as soon as possible, Im quite annnoyed as we asked several different people from several different shops, all of whom have axolotl knowledge or are owners themselves and NONE of them told us that sand is best for them and all of them said gravel that they can't eat and they all said medium sized gravel would be fine and gave us the gravel we are using , yet its obviously not fine and yesturday one of them sucked up two peices but spat them back out immediately! After looking through the axolotl gallery I have discovered that most owners have said to use sand. Its very frustrating as we put our trust in these people and have now wasted a fair bit of money and have to disturb our babies to re-do their home

Great pictures, love your melanoid and welcome to the site! Unfortunately not many pet shops/fish shops have a lot of knowledge on axolotls, some do, not many though. So if you have any worries or concerns this is the best place to ask, or just scroll through this site and i'm sure you'll find the answers you need. Sand is the best, but be aware that some sand does have very small stones in it that is not instantly noticeable, so if you get sand give it a good wash and check it. A lot of people also just have a bare bottom tank, for ease of cleaning, but i use sand as i like my tank to look nice. Your new babies all look great, bye for now.

I think Axl is a wildtype rather than a melanoid and your albino might be a golden albino, but nice axolotls all the same.

Regards Neil

Hi, I did wonder if Norbert was golden as he/she has a yellow tint and I wasnt sure if Axl was melanoid or wild, im not sure what the physical difference is between the two types but he has blue eyes if that means anything particular :)

I just realised when i was looking at the information on the site i got my left and right mixed up when lookong at a photo of a wild and a melanoid :/
