Hey all! Just this past Sunday I finally got my axolotl
I'm a new axolotl owner, so I appreciate respectful constructive criticism!
Everything about my tank is based off of what I read in my research prior to getting my axolotl.
-10 gallon tank, as he gets older I plan to move him into a 20gallon long.
-basic filtration-fake plant under water flow so it doesn't make too much water movement
-little bit of aeration
-aquarium sand substrate, have a feeding bowl so he doesn't eat sand by accident
-some aquarium rocks, as he gets larger I'll remove them
-fake plants
-simple cave, though he prefers to lay in the dish.
-only a clip on book light for lighting--one LED
-Believe it's a male based on bump behind his back legs
-Not sure whether it's a melanoid or just a dark wild type
-On a diet of small newt bites and bloodworms
-About 3.5in in length
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, I really like this little guy!
