Hello,

I am new to this site. I came here to learn more about the chinese fire belly. My son (14) has two in his room that he has had for about 2 years. This morning we discovered 3 babies and 3 eggs. I moved them to thier own enclosures since I wasn't sure if the adults would eat them. I went out and bought a brine shrimp hatching kit. My son already feeds the adults black worms so I put some of them in with the babies. Will they keep laying eggs? Do I need to take them all out? What is the success rate for raising the babies? Any helpful tips would be appreciated.

Thank you, ToniaM

It is likely that you'll get more eggs. There is quite some information on this species on this site:
http://www.caudata.org/cc/species/Cynops/C_orientalis.shtml
and on raising larvae:
http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/raising.shtml
and links

But it sounds you're doing great (and your son too). Baby brine shrimp are a good starter food. If they are a bit larger try some blackworms, or small bits of blackworms. This is less work and more meat for the newt.

If you have questions do not hesitate to post them and good luck.
