Hi folks,
I just recently bought 2 axolotls from a local I found on the internet, but I didn't realize the condition they would come in. Both of them are 2.5 inches long, so they ought to have legs, but they only have these little stumpy things, so I'm 99% sure the legs were bitten off or something. This is the third day I've had them, and they both seem to be doing well otherwise. Today they ate a cube of blood worms, and are actively swimming around quite often with no signs of bloating or floating/sinking problems. They don't have the curly tail syndrome either, which I hear I should watch out for.
Is there anything I should do to make sure they recover well, besides keeping the water cool and clean? (This is my first time keeping axolotls, but I have kept freshwater fish and dwarf frogs for 10+ years). What are the chances the limbs will grow back successfully?
Thanks!
