Question: New axolotls! Missing limbs?!?!?

Hi,

I have recently purchased 2 more axolotls.

I have 3 now in my 3ft tank.

They are juveniles.

But...

One of them has 2 legs on the back and no front legs.

One of them has 1 back leg and 2 front legs.

And one has all legs.

They ones with missing limbs are having a hard time getting around.

How could i speed up the regeneration?

Or is this impossible?

Providing adequate hides and food will help prevent any more missing limbs. As far as speeding up regeneration, it just happens on its own accord. Keeping them cool will help prevent infection though.

You DO realise that any new additions to your tank should be quarantined for 30 days?

I guess what's done is done though.

just to give you an idea,when I got my juveniles one had 3 feet missing and one had one foot missing. That was 6 weeks ago and both have completely regrown their feet already. They never really seemed to let their lack of feet overly bother them tbh. As their young they should regenerate they limbs reasonably quickly provided you (as im sure you are) care for them well

They generally eat 2 earth worms a day and a blood worm cube every 3 days.

Also they seem to like each other, One of the white ones has a HUGE head bigger than minizillers but has a tiny tiny body so he eats the most of the blood worms normally.

The other has a bigger body than miniziller but a TINY head.

They all share one of the hides?? i have 5 hides! And they insist on annoying miniziller and going in the coconut shell with him.

But he seems ok with them he only nipped off one limb when he was in his hide and hadnt seen them coming down into the tank in first place and he jumps when his tail touches stuff so one came over and touched his tail with his nose and got bit.

Hey i have aquired a disabled crayfish.... HALF OF HIS FACE IS GONE!

He was at the person who we bought the 3ft fish tank off of and i felt so sorry because he was in a
little hexagon thing like only just bigger than him so i am putting him/her in my 2ft old axolotl tank .

I was wondering if anyone knows what will my crayfish eat? He/she seems happy eating blood worm cubes and frozen peas but i like to feed my animals varietys of food not just a few foods.

Im guessing it to be minilizer in the last pic. He has the same pigment on his gills as mine. It gave me a scare.

I've kept crayfish before, and they'll eat anything they can get their claws on. If you keep it very well fed with processed foods (sinking pellets, algae wafers, etc.) then you might even be able to get a school of fish going in with him. (I'm just thinking of all the room he has -- I assume that 3foot tank doesn't house the Axolotls any more). Of course, no matter how well fed he is, he'll probably pick off a fish on occassion, but wild-type guppies are good and cheap and meant for food anyway, and they'll add some movement to the tank. I've also used white cloud minnows, (which, like the guppies, reproduced faster than he could eat them, after all the algae wafers I fed him.) My crayfish (female, she kept producing infertile eggs,) lived for a few years until I moved to a new state and had to do a large water change, right about the time she was molting. The water qualities were different, and she just couldn't get out of her exoskeleton. <A moment of silence for Fluffy, the crayfish.>

But to answer your question, if it's considered "food," he'll eat it, no matter what manner of animal it's meant to be food for. (Try to stick with things that sink and don't cloud water.)

The axolotls are in the 2ft but going in the 3ft tomorow hopeflly.

then crayfish gets the 2ft then after a while he get 3ft n axies et 3.6ft .

they are only 3-4inches long atm.
