New axies tank

The tank is set up next to my newts in the coolest room of the house out of direct light,
i have put in the decor etc i am just sorting the filter out so its not in there yet. i have a hide and fake plants do you think i need anything else? also the lid is still in the box so that needs to go on too.

Looks like a great tank, that last photo makes it look about 5 foot long! I just looked at one of your previuos posts and you said it was 3 foot, is that right?

Did you get your canister filter working? Have you started cycling the tank?

Those stones look a good size (not swallowable) but you know it's harder to keep the tank clean with pebbles for a base? If you're up for the work good on you!

it is only 3ft long! must have been the angle of the photo, i need to order parts for the filter before i can see if it works if it doesnt work im gonna get a fluval u2 and save up for a canister one. had to buy the table its on too £10 from a charity shop and its solid wood! bargain. will sart cycling the tank asap tho. i'm going to see how it goes with the pebbles might go half pebbles half sand(?) which sand would you use tho?

The cheapest (and easiest to get hold of) sand is childrens play sand. You can buy it from places like B&Q and this time of year Argos has loads in. It's only about £3 or £4 a bag, you won't need much either, you don't want it more than about an inch deep in your tank.

Great bargain on the table! Lets hope the filter goes your way too without shelling out too much money wise!

cool looking tank... it does look longer than three foot to me too but maybe it is just because it is not very high. Just a thought though I though axies were supposed to have two hides each? sorry if I'm wrong I just think I was told that at some stage... are you getting two axies or just the one?

awesome on the playsand as i use that for my tortoises! a friend of mine is getting axies too, he knows someone so he's sorting out the axies, our local petshop does sell them but i'm not having them from there they have 5 axies in a 1ft tank! and 3 of them are missing limbs i wonder why........i did say they needed more room but they are still in the tiny tank .i did want 3 axies but the tank would be a bit of a squeeze when fully grown i'm told so looking at just the 2. if i do need more hides that won't be a problem i do only have the one atm.

Not too sure about Spongebob. He gives me the willies, so I'm not sure how the axies will take to him. (just kidding)
