Finally got my hands on pair of these guys... both about 5 inches long.

Offered them food for the first time this afternoon. Both of them took two red wrigglers from the compost bin with no hesitation.

How much should i be feeding these guys? As much as they will take everyday? I imagine their growth has been stunted for the past few weeks/months living in a pet store tank.

Also, does anyone know if Bass Pro Shop or most Canadian Tires stock bait worms? I'd like to use worms as staple since they dont make a mess in the water like other foods and is easy enough to keep alive and breed

I usually feed my Axies whatever they can consume in about five minutes once a day (used to be twice a day when they were younger and will switch to every other day as they get older). Since five inches still seems a bit small, I would feed it twice a day. A good indication of a 'healthy' axolotl is if their stomach is about the size of their head.

I normally feed mine every day except my golden albino. He will eat a lot at one time but he will only eat every two days. If is very picky about his eating schedule and wont eat two days in a row.
