That is definitely awesome; the full gills are pretty impressive. Thanks for sharing!:D

I have to ask- does he go into breeding condition?

Not yet but he should this year

That's great James! Did it undergo the colour change to orange like an eft, or automatically get adult colouration?

Is this one you've raised yourself? It's very impressive!

He went straight to the adult colour and I did raise him from an egg

I did raise him he is almost 2 years old and he went straight to his adult colour

That is very neat James.:) Do you have any future plans to breed him?

James, this is exciting! I enjoy seeing NVL's posted, as they aren't that popular. Thanks for sharing.

How many do you keep?

That is very interesting. I suspect that neotony in NVL is population specific as it is with some tiger sal populations? Have you observed neotony in the population where you collected the eggs?

I did not collect him from the wiled he is from my adults breeding.I still have not found any here but I do get a good number of neotenic each time they breed.he will go into my breeding group I have 8 adults and I allways have larva juives from them sometimes they breed twice a year.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
