I have a 80cm x 30cm x 40cm tank that is half land half water.ca this tank house 2 adult pairs of Tylototriton verrucosus or is it too small?the water part is about 35 litters,do they need more water than that?

For two pairs adult needs a minimum of a tank with these measures: 60 cm long x 30 cm deep x 40 cm tall. It is a question from doing a mathematical operation! ;)

your tank will do fine for 2 pairs, but you can increase the waterlevel, as they are almost fully aquatic. Just a stone or piece of wood, what sticks out of the water will do fine, along with a piece of corkbark floating

i want them to have a nice land area to explore and of courde to look nice. i wasnt sure about the amount of water

T verrucosus are very aquatic, and will seldom be in the land part. So unless you are using a shelf for the land part, with a free volume of water under it, you are just reducing the useful volume for them. Like Joost said they really only need a haul out point (either an emerging branch or a floating island), the rest might be esthetical pleasing, but will be of little to no use to your tylos...

I have a pair of Tylo. verr. and they have a 40 gallon 50/50 tank. They spend at least 1/3 of their time in the land part, and not just seasonally, but all year long. The only time the female stays in the water all the time is when she's laying.

Yes, a generously sized stone or a cluster of trunks you can resolve the situation, or else you put as you but smaller. Have fun with the changes!

i just love the idea of a planted land area so i'll just use a bigger tank.my c.pyrrhogaster love to spend time on land so it would be a nice idea i think

Yes, if you have availability to do so, and if you like I do not see why not! Since they have the amount of water that you need to create a dry zone, but never leaving giving animals what they need so that this or that is more beautiful! ;)
