My Axolotl died today because of a strong fungus. Now I need to know how long I have to wait and what I have to do to be sure that my tank will be safe for another guest. I know it could seems a little be emotionless to think immediately about buying a new axolotl, but I can't wait because the selling of axolotl will became illegal soon in my country.

You should read this thread on Fungus: http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-beginner-newt-salamander-axolotl-help-topics/f48-axolotls-ambystoma-mexicanum/f57-axolotl-general-discussion/96018-fungus.html

'its important to recognise that the fungus may be a symptom of some other problem. If your axolotl regularly picks up infections you need to review your care standards, poor water quality and high temps will increase the likelihood of a fungal infection. Almond leaf may also be used as a preventative treatment, whether it is left in the tank on a regular basis or added to a tank when an open wound is observed.'

Fungus affects Axolotls if the right conditions are present for the fungus to thrive. As said in the above thread, you must establish the root cause of your fungal infection.

You will want to ensure you water is at top quality and cycled, with temperatures also being optimal between 16-18 degrees Celsius.

Perhaps where you Axolotl had fallen onto the floor it had caused internal issues? (http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-beginner-newt-salamander-axolotl-help-topics/f48-axolotls-ambystoma-mexicanum/f58-sick-axolotl/104769-help-guys.html) More than likely the fungus didn't cause the death. Its hard to tell.

Just make sure your water quality is perfect and temp is optimal. then you can introduce a new Axolotl to the tank.

I've already read the tread and I think the fungus was caused by problems with the water because I've been trying to remove algae and they were in decomposition when the fungus appeared, and she probably had an open wound in that period because I moved some rocks and I find she was wedged with the legs in one of this rocks, I will absolutely remove all the rocks and clean all the tank. I'm feeling really guilty, I won't do the same mistakes..

Anyway also when the fungus was gone she doesn't eat maybe she really had internal issues..

You live and learn! Read the articles I posted above and make your Axolotls environment top priority to keep them healthy.

You can always post images of your tank, or post water test results if you want any opinions. Ask questions at any time you are unsure, its unfortunate what happened but it seems there were a few things which could have contributed to the death. Keep researching!

Also, your water temp was at 21 degrees Celsius which encourages disease and fungal infection, so you will want to look at housing your Axolotl in a cooler area or invest in a chiller.

In fact I'm looking for the chiller, a second hand chiller because they are a little bit expensive, anyway with more water change the temperature reach 17-18 degrees, I will continue in this way and I will read your articles, thank you very much :)
