Hello, I have my tank cycling as of now, and 3 days ago I picked up my axolotol, and have been him in tupperware for the time being.. I'm just trying to see if there is a way to control the ammonia levels, usually the most its get up to is 0.25.. I do 50%water changes several times through out the day and will change the water completely 2x a day.. I started to add 1 drop of seachem prime to the tupperware, but later when I go to test the ammonia, it still comes out at 0.25.. Is it suppose to still show that there is ammonia even when using the prime? or am I supposed to let the prime sit for a few hrs before putting him back in?

SeaChem Prime does not remove ammonia, but rather binds it temporarily in a non-toxic form. The tests detect total ammonia, whether it's bound or not. You are doing the right things! Definitely continue to treat all of your water and to do the water changes frequently!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
