 Good Evening to everyone,
I bought a 50 lbs. bag of "Play Sand" from my local Home Depot, I was washing it as I have read on here, well the water got almost clear after ALOT of rinsing I might add, then I noticed these little sparkling grains very small and a silver color.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Did I get the wrong sand? Should I use it or not?
I do not want to use anything that will hurt my guy.
Please if anyone can help me it will be greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I use play sand in my tank. I found some that was double washed already and I rinse mine in red hot water, to help kill any possible bacteria, them rinse in lots cold water. I have noticed some sparkly particles in mine but I think it's really just refraction off the surface on some of the grains depending on if they have a flat area on the grain :) i have had no problems with mine and found it very easy to clean and because it is so fine you can see their little footprints which is super cute

Play sand is very good for axolotls, cheap easy and effective. Any form of pet store sand that is NOT made from coral will work too. Something with a rock base [not mineral]. Coral and minerals cause issues with the water's chemistry.
