Hello, has anyone been to the NARBC show recently? Was wondering if they usually have newts and / or salamanders?
Thanks
Francois

The one in Chicago rarely has them. I've only seen two or three species in the last couple of years. I have no idea about the others.

When I went to the one in Chicagoland this year there was one person selling newts and axolotls. The axolotls were insanely high priced, the P.waltl were low quality and the guy has a c.b. I.a.apuanus that was the smallest metamorph I have ever seen. That's a great show to check out if you're into reptiles though. There are a lot of breeders who you can tell are really passionate about what they do. It is possible there are other venders at the one in your area.

I think it was the 2009 show, someone was selling a trio of Triturus marmoratus for $350!! There were also a few mostly-skinny-with-mites fire salamanders.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
