Anyone fellow caudata people going?

Sept 5-6th? I will be there....

Anything specific you are doing. presenting, buying, looking, etc.?

Looking. May be bringing some Spanish ribbed newts to one of the vendors for credit/trade for bugs.

Last I checked I don't think any newt/sal vendors will be there.

I know this is unreliable at best, but the Radio has been broadcasting advertisements and definitely mentions salamander and newts being present.

I enjoy these shows because I am very keen on three animal groups. Frogs, Salamanders/newts, and Geckos. We will see how it goes.

What bugs are trying to trade your ribbed newts for?

Eh, not sure yet. Just kind of doing him a favor...might get some reef geckos. What about you?

  • Katia Del Rio-Tsonis:
Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
