Naming: T. alpestris

Can someone clear up the difference between
Triturus alpestris alpestris
and
Triturus alpestris apuanus?

(or is one of these an error?)
(are there other T. alpestris subspecies?)

Apuanus is indeed a subspecies of alpestris and it's from Italy-hence Italian Alpine newt. www.amphibian.co.uk has a caresheet for alpestris and also describes most of the subspecies.
