Here are some pics of my N.v.l. larvae(central newts, a subspecies of eastern newts). They are 1-1.5 inches long, some may be close to 2 inches. They are aquiring colors but I am not certain if they will become efts or aquatic adults. Comments are welcomed.

They sure are stuffing their tummy full! They look great AJ! I assume that if kept in a clean cool aquatic setup that they might stay aquatic but that is pure speculation.

I seriously doubt they'll go terrestrial, it's just not that common with this species.

Nice work AJ, they certainly do look fat and happy.

Thanks guys, they are certainly fat and seem to be healthy. I hope we are all right and they stay aquatic.

They look pretty good, AJ! They seem to be quite close to morphing.

Thanks everyone. I didnt expect this much positve feedback since N.v.l.'s are pretty drab compared to many other newt species. They do have their own appeal though.

A quick update, two of them have morphed and wanted on land so I moved them to a terrestrial cage. The rest are still larvae or are remaining aquatic. I hope the rest stay aquatic. The two efts are in a small hexagon tank because that is what I have available right now. There are a bunch of whiteworms loose and some in a dish as well as a few spring tails. I am trying to culture some local woodlouse to get some babies to feed to them. I will try the smallest form of pheonix worms later too most likely. Well here they are and more pics should follow soon.

Gah. I'm very jealous, AJ. They look good! Swamping them with an assortment of live foods is a good plan and should hopefully give you some success.
