So I recently (2 months ago) got my 1st axolotl. They just started selling them here in a local pet store, I didn't even know you could have them as pets before! But I'm very glad I got little Karkat (that's what I named him).
It makes me really sad to see them getting sold here, since Paraguay is a VERY hot country and most people here don't have the money to get a chiller (which was the first thing I bought him after doing some reading, which I have done A LOT)
Anyway, I'm really glad I got him. I originally went over there to buy a betta, but once I saw this little guy, I just had to get him.
This was little Karkat when I first got him, I didn't know anything about them, besides what the store lady told me (which was SO wrong). I had him in a 1 gallon tank for the past month until last week ago, when I moved him to this tank (decoration changes are still being made, hehe)
I got a 25 gallon tank, since I read a 20 would be enough for two axies and I didn't want little Karkat to be alone (he is alone in that huge tank for now)
Here he is in his new tank
And this is little Kankri, I got him yesterday and I'll keep him in a 5 gallon tank until he is big enough to share the big tank with Karkat. Kankri is maybe 5-6cm while Karkat is already about to reach 15 and I'm afraid he will eat him or bite his legs or something.
I very much love both of them and I can't wait until Kankri is big enough to share the tank with Karkat. I'm surprised at how different both their personalities are and I felt that it was about time I shared these little guys with this awesome community who has taught me so much.
