I have one Paramesotriton hongkongensis, whom I've kept for 10 years. He is normally quite shy and often the hardest to feed of my three caudates, because even when he shows interest in food items, he often seems too sluggish to go after them. Lately, he hasn't been keeping much of anything down. I tried feeding him an Eisenia hortensis worm and a cricket (both of which he has accepted in the past), but he rejected both soon after he took them in his mouth. Two nights ago, I tried feeding him a superworm (Zophobas morio), which he accepted, but I found the thing floating in the water not too long ago. Even Reptomin doesn't seem to hold his attention.

I'm not sure why he's rejecting food as he is. Is he reacting to stress? We moved the location of his tank not too long ago, but he wasn't eating too well before then, either. The last thing he ate for certain was a red worm about a week and a half ago.

I would try something super palatable like Canadian nightcrawler, live blackworms or waxworms if you can get them. Eisenia worms are often accepted, but I've known my newts to go off then from time to time.

OK, he rejected it a t first, but not too long ago today I managed to feed him half of a Canadian nightcrawler. I'm hoping he keeps it down. Is it just me, or do newts sometimes go through phases where they're less receptive to food in general?
