This morning i received 5 gorgeous grown on juveniles, courtesy of our one and only Mark Aartse-tuyn.
This is what i call an early Christmas gift hehe.
They are quite the little heroes, since the package was delayed and it took a whole week to arrive (may the post office burn in eternal damnation). They are in great shape, though, and went directly into the water. 20 minutes after arriving they had all ate a nice chunk of earthworm and some bloodworms. They have a lovely full tummy now :)
I´ve been dreaming about this moment for ages...literally since i was a little child and i used to look at pictures of this species, amazed with their unique beauty. I´ve failed to observe them in the wild despite being native to my province (well, I.a.cyreni is), and lokking for them for years. I´ve even looked in places where i know for a fact they breed, and nothing...buuuuuuuut now i can see them every time i darn well please xDDD

Thank you Mark, once again (i plan on repeating it ad nauseum)!!

PS: Excuse the quality of the photos and the fact that only two animals are pictured xD

Congratulations! I think these are some of the most beautiful newts, the look like jewels and are so colorful.

congrats! , as i said many times they are my favorite newts for many reason.

I´ve always thought of them as one of the top three most beautiful and stunning caudate species.
The fact that they are very personable and active only adds to their atractiveness (yes, only a few hours with me and i already see how special they are, you were absolutely right Mark).
After years of not naming any new animal(i was running out of names and will to remember them all ¬¬), i´m tempted to name at least a couple of these :p

After all not only the Portuguese post office to fail! :D It is always a day of excitement when it receives a new salamander, I'm just like a kid! Match these fascinating animals, congratulations! ;)

Cheers

Congrats Rodrigo.

Apuanus, it's fantastic newt, not only beatyful, more beatufyl:D, and my exemplars (at the moment..) stay acuatic 100% of the life!!!;). Have your nets with water or no?

Disfrutalos tio!!

Bye!

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
