Heey I found some larvae in the Pet Shop near by my house. They sell them as A. Mexicanum but they are going to morph and have a pointy noise. So I think it are A. mavortium and I`ve buy`t them. So I think I have really luck now.

Nice Tigers Christian

I have 5 myself, but 3 different strains. Yours are Eastern Tiger Salamanders (Ambystoma Tigrinum) just incase you were wondering. I have two of them myself. I find when they are young they like hand feeding alot LOL they will jump/lunge several inches high/forward.

Hehe, yeah, they are very active eaters, and they can jump as well!, they like to bite in my fingers also !

Are you sure they are tigrinum? Everybody over here says they are mavortium,
I will take a clear picture of all five tigers I have , As far as I know I have 2 female's and one male, and two german juveniles. I think the juvies are 1 male and 1 female.

I have noticed that the male's are digging tunnels after dinner, and female's are very active, taking a bath, looking for food, and jumping to me all day long.

The reason I think that they are Eastern is if you look, most every Eastern Tiger I have seen have spotting, even on the tails too. All of yours do. Mavortium seem to have bars or vertical stripes. It's pretty hard to tell them apart tho.

I would say for sure they are A mavortium mavortium...
although there is some overlap in their range, so maybe a chance of hybrids, but the pictures to me look like like typical mavortium. Also the yellow spotting can turn to bars over time. Likewise with tigrinum, I have seen mine change from originially spotted (there's a couple older pics of mine in this link, the last picture is a tigrinum):

...to having a more blotched pattern.
Less than a year later here is one of the same ones with much more blotching:

you have barred tiger salamanders, not eastern tigers, some times it is hard to tell them apart, but in this case they are definitely ambystoma mavortium. If you want to see some pics of my species to show the difference, let me know. email at tegu24@yahoo.com for pics.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
