These are the jewels I got from M. Shrom at the Hamburg Expo. Not all are pictured, but meet
Elektra's new companion, Eddie (I checked: two nostrils each); a third N. Strauchii for the trio of Spotty, Blotty, and Dotty; three Marbled Newts, Greeny, Greeno and Greeneroo; and three Alpine Newts, Alpy, Alpo, and Alperoo. Also a picture of one of my Notos looking cute as a newt in a boot.

I dont even want to know how much you spent there.

But great animals!

Hobbies...they're supposed to take up your excess time AND your excess cash, because too much of both will get you in trouble!

Love your newest editions! They are all very adorable. I have to smile at their names.

Congrats.

Little Eddie ate a piece of worm from my tweezers today! I had tried two previous times and he wasn't ready. This time I made sure he saw Elektra do it and I guess he decided it looked like a good idea. I was so happy I just sat there and clapped!
So yes, I have no life.
Actually, caring and fretting over these newts is a fulfilling and peaceful hobby and just one of the many things I (and I'm sure all of us) do. I find them to be a very potent stress reliever.

I agree, caring for newts is a fulfilling hobby.
There's just something about making sure my newts (and all my other critters) are happy that brings me joy and peace.

Yeah Eddie! He is just too cute.
I think the thing that melts my heart the most is when my newt is peeking out from behind a rock and I go over to his tank to take a gander at him & he comes walking over to the glass and if I tilt my head one way then the other he does the same thing. Yeah I know he probably thinks I'm food or is saying "Where's the grub?" But it still gets me every time.

Keep posting those little ones Dawn.

When I feed Elektra worm pieces, she'll eat one or two. When she doesn't want another she shuts her eyes when I approach with it. I feel like she's talking to me! I told my boyfriend, "She blinks once for no and twice for yes." Actually, we're still working on that. I was thinking that Tarichas had the cutest and most expressive faces, but I'm rethinking that, owning these Tylos.

Did you take the plane to Hamburg for these beauty's? Amazing!

Hi Christian,
Their are Hamburg shows at two places. One is Hamburg Germany and one is Hamburg, Pa. U.S.A. Dawn drove down to the Hamburg, Pa. show. I ran into some confusion some years ago when their were shows at both places on the same date. Somebody thought they were going to meet me at Hamburg but it wasn't the one I was going to. We cleared it up before the show.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
