Two days ago i had my first morph of the season (Cynops orientalis). It morphed at just 3,5 cm, which is rather small compared to previous experience. The thing is, it went on land, it´s gills shrunk, as normal...but then it decided the water was a much funnier place to live so it went back to being aquatic....and the gills are still there! hehe
I´m not saying it´s neotenic or anything of course...just thought it was rather funny, since it was on land for less than a day xD I´m curious as to what will happen...it hasn´t gone on land since then.
So it´s a perfectly normal little newt with very small gills, incredibly cute i must say hehe.
Has anyone had their morphs do this? I was expecting it to be VERY terrestrial for some time as it´s supossed to happen with Cynops...well time will tell, maybe it´s just taking it´s time to morph completely.
