but anyways....they are all settled in. The female and one male jumped into the water right away, and it only took 10 min. for the other little male to jump in too.

I am going to try to take some pics today and post them so you can see them and their setup!

finally got my pics on the comp.

I couldnt seem to get any good ones, but i will keep trying...

Nice animals, Katie.

What're you feeding them? The problem I can see with using rocks as substrate the way you're doing is that the food is bound to fall between the rocks where it won't be reachable by the newts, and will it will decay there, spoiling water quality. If you want to go with rocks, I'd recommend you at least create a rock-free feeding area on one side of the tank or the other, and use a feeding ring or something to ensure that the food falls straight down into the feeding area.

<font size="-2">I edited your thread title to add "Cynops orientalis" because the practice in this part of the forum at least is to identify the species in the title, which also helps people decide whether they want to open the thread and read it

I was thinking what Tim said. I'm planning to go to sand ASAP, personally, but I have smalller gravel right now and use a feeding dish. If you use a turkey baster for spot cleaning, you can suck the food up on that and put it in the feeding dish.

Thanks for your advice, but i have already fixed the rocks. I cleared an area for feeding in the left front corner. I use frozen bloodworms, i drop them in the tank, and since there is no current they drop straight down to the bare bottom portion of the tank....works great!!

also, i do have a filter, but it runs over a rock covered in java moss, thats how i make it so there is not current!

just for an update....Since I have got the newts, they have ate twice and are doing great!! They do not seemed stressed and seem to love their new home!

Ali, i also use a turkey baster for any leftover food, but usually there isnt much....they are little pigs!!

Also...

Ali, I was going to use sand but i am worried they will eat it. so far in only a few feedings since i have had them, they wait till the food comes to the bottom. If a had sand i would be worried them would eat sand along with their food.
