I got my first axies yesterday andn I wanted to show them off! Ignore the dirtiness, this is actually a picture of them before I took them home...the container they came in had lots of poops in it :p but now they're in a clean container and eating and doing...axolotl things. I have to say, I'm hooked already. They are so cool to watch! Anyway, just wondering, do you think I have a wild type or a melanoid? I got him thinking I would get a wild type, but now I'm not so sure! The parents were melanoid (or as the guy called him, "black") and albino.

The best way to check if it is melanoid is to shine a torch at the little one's eyes. If there is shiny ring it isn't, if there isn't a shiny ring it is :) It does look like it's a wild to me but I could be wrong :D Just looks to light on its little head. They're beautiful little babies though! I can sit and watch mine for hours when they're active, or even if they aren't really :p

son hermosos cuidalos mucho, are beautyfull care it

Well, from what I can tell, I see no glowing rings...actually, no part of either of them glows. Except for a little spot on top of the leucistics head  I'm going to try again tonight when it's a little darker.

It doesn't really 'glow', but instead reflects light if you shine it just right. But it looks melanoid to me.
