My guys aren't eating :/

I've had my axolotls for a week now and don't know what I'm doing wrong. The first day we caught worms in our garden and they gobbled them up. The next 2 days were fine. Sunday I bought some night crawlers and cut them up. They ate them the first time. Next tumeq spit them out. I thought perhaps it was because of the bad tasting slime so I killed them with the hot water first and quickly cooled them. Nope. Spit them out. Fine. We went out and caught more. They each ate maybe a tiny one if that. My daughter tried again this morning and they spit them all out. I went out and got some prawns. They each ate a very small amount, but it took forever. They spit it out multiple times. I feel like I'm force feeding the poor guys. They should be hungry. What am I doing wrong??

How big and old are they? Is your tank cycled? What are the water parameters and temperature?
Sometimes axies go a few days without eating. Nothing to worry about unless there's something else wrong. Keep an eye on them and keep offering food.

They are 4-5 inches long. I'll test the water tomorrow but have been doing 50% water changes every other day just because they poop a lot! I have a bottle filter in their tank that I had in my established tank for 3 days before getting them. It's been super warm here but I've been able to keep my tank at 68 or below consistently.
