These are my kids. The grey one is Balthazaa, just a grey wildtype,
The tan coloured one is Gwenevere, she's... Well, i don't know what she is. I assume just a very light coloured wildtype.

Aren't they cute?!

Wow! They are both Gorgeous! Both have lovely markings, love Axies with Spots... and Gwenevere is such an unusual colour, she almost looks yellow. The big rocks in your tank look really effective... All very nice

I agree! they are very cute, both of them! Unusual axolotls are always nice to look at, and your's is not an exception. but i have to say that wildtypes are just as beautiful

Absolutely adorable!

Very cute axies, both of them! How old are they? The yellow spotty one is very unusual colour.

that is probably the coolest axie i have ever seen in my life! what awesome coloration!

Well I'm so very flattered by your comments!! I was just blown away when I saw them.

I got Balthazaa, the grey one, when he was only about 10cm long... He's now about 20cm. No idea how old he is, but I've had him a few months. He's gorgeous, he comes to the top when I open the tank lid and I just stick my fingertip in with the food and he gobbles it down. Very convenient in winter - I don't have to get my hand wet!!

Gwenevere I only got a week ago. I had asked an aquarium near me to get some axolotls in aaaaages ago and they never got back to me... Until i got this call saying they had 4 for me to choose from!! I wish I had a bigger tank cos the decision was so hard... There was a gorgeous golden albino but he was too big to keep with balthazaa, so I looked at a melanoid and a LEUCISTIC!!!! (We don't get many of them here, all the white ones are albino... i was so excited and about to get him...) and then............. This chick crawled out! The smallest of the three, she's about an inch bigger than balthazaa (I have a seperate tank should there be any issues) and I fell in love immediately.

Thanks for all the nice comments!!

hmm.. balthazaa that name sounds familar, where is it from?

oh and great looking axies! those spots are gourgous(sp) ;)

I'm pretty sure there was a medieval king balthazaa... Otherwise, I stole it from the Placebo song, Centrefolds!

Oh and about the comment with the rocks: When I got Gwen, she was on sand, and when she started moving around in my tank with the huge rocks it was SO funny. Balthazaa's used to it cos he's been there for a while, but she looked like she was bouldering over these big things, she looked hilarious! But I'm going to be upgrading to a 5ftL tank soon with sand. V. Exciting.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
