My first Lotls :]

My lotls!! The green one (wild type?) was a gift and the second one I got from some breeder out here and he was missing all his legs and some gills, which are all growing back as of now :]

Awe they're so cute! :) Looks like you're taking great care of them, and I love the colours on your leucistic!
What are their names? :)

My husband named the first one Falcor(never ending story) and the leucistics name is Nubbins because of the missing legs when I got her(him)? :]

I wish I knew! I havent found anyone out here that really knows what theyre talking about with these little guys, Nubbins breeder couldnt even tell me how old he was wen I picked him up, she had them in tubs and they were all definitely doing some cannibalistic stuff in there which she told me was normal and anywhere I got they'll be missing their legs at that age because they eat em 0.0

Yeah, unfortunately she's right! :( I have two of my juveniles in a tub together at the moment and they get along well for the most part, but once it's feeding time they can get a little snappy with each other. I just make sure they're well fed and eat on opposite sides of the tub to reduce the risks of any mishaps! ☺️

Maybe she didn't if she let them get all their gills bitten off! :( I keep a super close eye on mine and so far nobody's lost a gill or a limb! And once they get to be adults they aren't nearly as dangerous to each other as when they're young! :)

My two definitely seem to get along but theyre alittle bigger and about the same size thankfully. Hopefully after I get this new tank setup I can find another about their size to add in!

That sounds great! :) As long as there's not more than inch of difference between any of them there shouldn't be any problems.
 
Aww, they're both so adorable :) I especially like your leucistic one. Looks like it might be GFP too!

I read somewhere that axies should be kept apart until they're about 6" or adulthood. When they're young, they're cannibalistic but if you keep them apart, they'll "forget" this since they won't be able to nip at another axie. Then you can reintroduce them when they're older and they'll be less likely to eat each other. But they're also supposed to be a lot less aggressive when they're older too which may play a part.

GFP means they glow under black light correct? He/she does glow when a blacklight is on him :]

Yep, that's the gist of it! But you shouldn't have the blacklight on them too often. There's a few threads around here that say it's bad for them.

I dont even own a blacklight :]
breeder I picked him up from had him and the rest in a black tub with blacklights hanging over them, thats the only reason I know lol
 
Cute axolotls, and awesome names. Great to see that Nubbins is regenerating his missing bits.
My 3 juveniles (1 wild type, 2 coppers) have always been together, and were in a small tank with at least 4 others at the pet store. I bought them when they were around 3 inches. The wild type had a gill tip missing, but apart from that all 3 were fine. It can get a bit crazy around feeding time, but now they are bigger they are hand fed in different parts of the tank, and we haven't had any accidents yet. I might have to put the wild type in another tank as he eats a lot and is growing far more quickly than the others. :rolleyes:

glowing axy's? Can they get any cooler! ! What causes the glow? And what is this copper come you speak of pls?

I have attached a photo of one of my coppers from 2 months ago. I haven't taken many pictures of them recently. I also have photos of all of my axolotls in the album section.

    Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

    Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
