My first eggs

Hi everyone,

I have had my axies for about 6 months and I now unexpectedly have eggs. I currently have 5 axolotls and they are all female for except one.

I didn't want to breed them so early but I had a large amount of confusion about the sex.

All I did was change the water and *boom* I have eggs. I assume it was the temperature of the new water that did it

I have a tank set up ready to go but having trouble getting the right food for them.

Melissa

Sarah, keeping the eggs this time. Maybe next time. Thanks anyway. Melissa

I ended up with about 20 or so eggs. This was Harmony's first spawn so i didn't really expect much. Most of the eggs were unfertilised and only one got to the stage of hatching.

Last night, my one and only passed on. Not sure if it wasn't getting enough food or the water was bad.

Will have to learn a bit more before I try again.

RIP Gunn Jr

wow Harmony is red!!! never seen a colour like that before! the water change would have triggered the male, it is then up to the male to entice the female...and wheather or not she is receptive....looks like gun is quite the ladies man!
