So this is my first Axolotl. I've wanted one for a long time and finally came across one at a local pet store. I can home and redid my 20g put on a fluval 105 and added black sand. Cycled and got my axie.

What an amazing piece of driftwood, I'm a big fan of driftwood. And gorgeous little axie, he/she contrasts so nicely with the sand. Seems like you gave a lot of thought to the design of the tank. Good job! By the way is that moss going to stay floating or are you going to tie it to the wood?

Hi,

Great looking setup and axolotl, I am liking the contrast too.

That looks great!

I love the second picture - that innocent "Who me?" look ;)

Cool, I just got mine today too, golden albino also! Thought of a name for the little critter yet?

What a great set up! Looks lovely, and so does your wee pal :D Very cute!

I should have added some more info about the tank. It's a 20 gallon with a fluval 105 canister filter on the lowest flow setting until I get my spray bar. The sand was a ridiculous price of $25 but I think well worth it in the long run as it shouldn't harm the axie and it looks amazing. The larger rocks I found on clearance at a Petsmart for $1.50 a bag and I bought two a larger and a smaller size, which are all too large for the axie to swallow, even when she/he grows up.
I'm also adding an azoo double fan to keep the temp down because right now it's been at about 68-71.

I have actually used the moss that was floating to ball around an air stone, but may just let it go back to floating. I noticed the axie loved hanging out in it.

I don't think it was in the best shape when I got it, or when the petstore got it. They said she didn't have a back limb, so she's got this short back leg that's growing in, the petstore had her for three weeks, and I've had her a few days almost a week. She had some white spots which seem to be going away. I've feed her midge larve, blood worms, and small guppies that I raised.

She doesn't have a name yet, I have been going back and forth between calling it her and he, as I'm not quite sure of her sex yet. I'm waiting to figure her out before I name her.

I've waited so long for the day I could own an axie...I finally do.

Very nice set up.Congrats on your first axie,he/she is a looker.

Hi,

Thats a real nice looking set-up and a lovely axie! I do like the sand and saw something similar in a wide variety of colours which was labelled aragonite sand, however I was a little cautious of getting it as it's quite soluble and would raise the ph of my tanks quite a bit. Is this the type of sand you are using in your set-up, or are there other types of coloured sands you can buy?
