It's a very nice tank, the only issue I think you are going to face is the depth of the sand. I don't use sand personally, but I have heard that if the sand is deeper than a few cm then pockets of harmful gases can build up.

Nice tank Emerald (best name ever >.<) The sand needs to be lowered a bit but otherwise looks awsome ^^

I agree with shizeric. Mine is only about an inch but my axies tend to move it around so its deeper in the middle i regularly redistribute the sand and have noticed slight gas pockets in mine. It can mess your water chemistry up and smell! About half an inch to an inch is plenty. Mel

Ohhh ok, yes the sand is a bit deep. My little brother did it for me, to keep him occupied. Thank you for comments :D

there's actually nothing wrong with the sand being that deep, IF you stir it up on a regular basis. Anerobic bacteria takes time to form. A simple way to avoid this is to take something and stir it up each week as you do your water change. I use a chopstick to keep mine lofty. Some folks actually attach a stick to the end of their vaccuum so as the vaccuum, they can sift the sand and vaccuum at the same time.

the tank looks really nice!! What color is your axie?

I don't have an axolotl yet cos I'd have no where to put him while Im cycling my tank.
I want an albino though :]

ahhh GOOD JOB!! I was wondering where he was while you were cycling. It's soooo hard to resist the urge and wait.

I initially wanted an albino, bet went with a leucistic. gotta say, those freckly spots all over his little face make me melt LOL. so darn cute! They all are though :)

My mum says they're the 'ugliest things'... So cruel.

LOL my friends coworker saw a picture of my seymore and gasped and asked what kind of aborted embryo it was!

some people need fur to see cuteness. For me, not an everning goes by that I don't sit here and laugh at my little axie and wonder how on earth something to silly and adorable exists. when he sees me and comes up to the glass all spastic like (not very good swimmers at all!) and looks like he's smiliing like a demented cabage patch kid...I can't help but laugh and "awww!!!" at the little goober

Hahaha yeh, they are pretty weird looking, but totally adorable :] I can't wait to have one of my own.

But furry things do look so cute lying bleeding under the tree you shot them out of :D

what I like about the axies is they stay in their tank :D unlike a dog, there's no need to take them for walks or runs, unlike a cat, they don't clamber into your lap and try to go to sleep on the laptop keyboard when you want to type, unlike goats they don't try munching your vege garden when they make it through a fence, or try and eat your gear if you're having to do somethign in that paddock with them.

Tank based pets are easy care :D feed them and watch them :p

i like all animals and when i first seen axies i melted. i currently have cats dogs goldfish and a cockatiel. :) i cant wait for my eggs to come in the mail.

Your eggs to come in the mail? What? Hahaa :]
Ever since I was little I've had an obsession with things that live in the ocean/water. I don't know why or when it started lol
I currently have a cat & 2 fighter fish/Bettas. I want to get hermit crabs too cos I have a spare tank, perfect size for two :D

Wooaahh. But wont they die or something?
That's pretty cool though lol

Whenever I was showing my mother pictures of axolotls and telling her that I wanted to get one she looked at me like I was insane and said that she thought they looked really gross. The day that my axolotl arrived, however, she popped up to see him and her first reaction was "Aww, well he is actually really cute." Nobody can truly resist the charm of an axolotl in person, especially when they come to the glass to say hello. xD

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
