My first Axie!

I got this little guy on Wednesday but have been patiently waiting for all bodily functions just to make sure he is completely healthy and with the help of my magic turkey baster I just removed his first poo.

He is eating frozen bloodworms like a little monster and seems to have a habit of stalking me while i'm getting rid of left over worms with my baster which is VERY cute (even though it takes twice as long and he keeps messing up my pile)

2 of the gills on his right hand side (if you look at him in my pictures) are much shorter, do you think this my have been from another axolotl in the pet shop? Also his gills are much pinker now than in these pictures which were taken about 5 minutes after he was first put in the tank.

The little palm trees made me smile, as did what you wrote about him messing up your piles, haha.

What a lovely little axolotl (I'm quite jealous!!). The lob sided gills may have been nipped by another axolotl in the past, in time they should grow back. The gills from time to time will be pinker when its more active. I would love to see more of tank

Congrats, he looks so cute and innocent!

The gills go pinker when the blood rushes to them, so after eating or a bit of exercise, they look really bright and beautiful - this is when I try to get good snaps of Petrie, when he's just finished stuffing himself
