Here are a couple of pictures I took tonight of Lenny, my C. Orientalis aka Chinese Firebelly. I originally though Lenny was a boy, but I'm leaning more towards female now as compared to other newts I've seen, Lenny's tail is rather short. Her name is still going to be Lenny though. *chuckle*

The first picture is a panorama shot of Lenny's home, stitched together from 3 photos. Pardon the text in the middle, shareware, what can ya do.

The next picture is Lenny him/herself. I was trying to take a picture of Lenny munching on an earthworm, but apparently getting his picture taken while eating wasn't his idea of a good time, so he turned around. You can still see that he/she is definately getting a little chubbier than when I first got him though. Lenny is 80% terrestrial, hence the rough skin.

Looks like a nice home, that suprises me about being so terrestrial, mine are like 2% terrestrial, hm, have fun!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
