2 axies in 10 gallon tank. Will upgrade to 20 gallon long when they get bigger.

Looks great! Haha, I had the same rock hidey hole for my axie when she was small. Just a heads up, they'll probably try to swim through the smaller hole, even when they get too big for it. I think I still have pictures of my Rosa getting stuck in it, wiggling her way out, then turning around and getting stuck again. They don't want to accept growing up! :p

When i upgraded from a 10 to a 30 gallo tank it came with a nifty tank hood with Standard and UV lights but what i didn't know was that even with the lights off the hood built up so much heat that i came home from work one day and my guy was floating on his side at the top of the tank.

i transferred him to a small tub and then kept adding cool water to the tub in small amounts to cool him down and not shock him but since then i have never had the hood on my tank.

I read somewhere on the net that you need to have the hood on as they like to jump out but i've had mine two years and the closest he ever comes is when he swims to the top, takes a big gulp of air then sinks like a rock to the bottom. Its quite amusing to watch

Just my 2 cents

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
