My Axolotl

This is my axie. He/she doesn't have a name yet, I'm going to decide when I know it's sex. Any suggestions? So far I've been looking for something Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican that isn't unpronounceable. I think it had a hard time before I got it, it's gills were half this length and the tip of the tail was missing but it's growing back very fast. I was also worried about bloat because it had a swollen abdomen at first but it turned out to just be all blocked up with pet shop gravel! Thankyou to the forum members who responded when I was concerned.
You can just see some interesting dark markings around the eyes, I know that leucistics sometimes have dark pigment along the top of their head and body, does this get more pronounced with age?

Vary cute, I think the grills are growing back great. Thats what crackers looked liked when they started to grow back. They are huge and fluffy now. I'am not shure but I think the marks will get darker when he/she gets older.

Hey! Beauitful pictures!
And it looks like a boy to me, a very cute little boy with big eyes!:D

hi! i have a wiki link for you to begin for a search of a name that is in a Meso-American language. Its a start.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nahuatl_language

Your guys is very cute with such big eyes with some nice black polkadot rings arround. Nice bonus shrimp, how big is it, looks like the amano algae eating shrimp (Caridina japonica, I think the have also been rediscribed and classified)

Hey what a lovely axie and you take great pictures!

Your little axie looks like he can't quite believe he's ended up in such a nice home! All the best.

Thanks! I'll pass the compliments on cos he comes to the glass and watches when I'm at my desk.
I got a few good pics cos I spent the whole afternoon trying!
It is an amano shrimp, I think the scientific name was changed to caridina multidentata. I have a few like the one in the pic that are about one inch long and a big lazy one thats a little over an inch and a half.
Thanks for the wiki link, I'll have a look.

It is multidentata, yes. It was renamed about a month back. Used to be Caridina Japonica, both names are acceptable in the pet trade at the moment.

It's a nice example of the species actually.
