Hey, I've had my wild type axolotl for about 4 months. He's about 5 inches right now, and in a 10 gallon tank. I have some fake plants but what else can I add to make it more interesting? Maybe something that will make him a little more active and entertained?

Any advice would be great, this is my first post so I'm all ears!

I just got my axolotl around 3 inches. So far I got a few large river rocks placed sparingly around the tank. I got some several live plants today and stuck them inside the smallest terra cotta pots they have but the darn things keep floating up. I also got two caves.

I might get some aquarium sand but I have no experience with it. Right now I have a bare bottom. But yeah the live plants really brought some beauty to the tank so try those.

I've got children's play sand, a little pot, a couple flat river rocks, a marimo (moss) ball and some sort of plant that hasn't died yet. Oh! Recently, I picked up these hermit crab house things. They look like little igloos made out of plastic. They float, but I wedged it in the corner between the glass and the pot.
