I have 1 golden albino at 6inches (I think it's a female).
I have 1 Wild type at 4inches.
and 1 white albino at 2 inches.
I do have a question. Do you guys think it's safe for me to let my white albino out of his
cage and be free with the wild type? I will add hiding places for it if i do let it go.
what do you guys think?

Hi
Lovely axolotls!
I would say that the little one is maybe too small to be with the wild.
Does the smaller ones head look like it could fit in the wilds mouth?

I had an unfortunate accident with one of my babies. I thought he looked too big to fit in the others mouth but he managed to get him in past his back legs!
I'm pleased to say he did survive the ordeal and both of them were fine!

So just be wary.

The small one's head doesn't look like it can fit in the wild type's mouth.
It seems to me that these 2 are just more than 1.5 months apart in age.

I'd probably say you're better off safe than sorry. You don't wanna risk it and come home to find 2 axolotls have turned into 1 really full axolotl. I know it's hard to keep the little guy in his own cage and you want to introduce the 2, but it's definitely wait until you know it's safe before putting them together.

I released the small one from its cage and both of them seem ok together.
The bigger one is scared of the small one. They both get startled by each other when they get next to one another. At least I'm assured that the little guy will always swim away just in case. =]
And one more thing, I made a small cave for the smaller one to hide in and it seems pretty relaxed in there. =]
I just felt bad leaving the small one in such a confined space. ='[

Why don't you try using a tank divider?

So, the little guy is back in his cage after i witnessed the big one trying to gulp the small one.
Luckily, no one was hurt. After I saw that attempt to bite the small one, I immediately returned the small one into his cage.
I will follow Darkmaverick's advice in getting a tank divider but first I have to find where they sell them.
I'll go check the pet stores.

I think we need specifications if you are going to look for advice from the forum...you said you have 3 axolotls. Where is the golden albino kept? Is it separate from the tank you are housing the wild type and white albino in? And also, how large is the tank you have the wild type with the albino in?

My Golden Albino is solo in her own 20gal tank. The Wild Type and the albino are in a 15gal tank. The White Albino is back in its cage. I have 5gal tank I'm not using right now. The White Albino might have to placed in there for the mean while but first i have to get a new filter for it.

Hiya i panicked a bit when you said you'd released the little one. Glad you've decided to keep them seperate for now. You can use your spare tank without a filter just keep on top of water changes. I raise my babies in tubs without filters. The little one should start catchin the big one up soon and then you can keep them together. Mel
