I recently upgraded my Axie, Rocky's tank. I siliconed river rocks to a tupaware container I turned upside down. I left the top of the container on to where I could feed him in it and there would be no sand to mix in with his frozen blood worms. There's an air stone under the rocks in the middle that for him he uses as a launch pad to boost him on top of his house. HE LOVES IT! I have broken slate covering the bottom which I dremeled all sharp edges off of same with his house. I have sand that fills in the gaps on the floor and a large slate piece for a background everything has been axolotl proofed so he cant get anywhere he shouldn't.

My next project is I want live plants Id like to have a wall of moss on the background slate piece Id like some moss on top of the house and in his front yard. I was thinking java moss or x-mas moss. Any ideas?

Here is some pictures to see what were working with haha

can anyone point me towards a trusted plant dealer please
with a recommendation of how much to buy given my needs

You could try looking around in local pet stores. I wouldn't go with the commercial ones like Petsmart or Petco, though. Or, you could buy online. I'm sure some of the other members here have some sellers or websites you could try.

Keep in mind that when you buy the moss, you will have to quarantine it for some time, just to make sure all the nasties it may contain don't move into your axolotl's tank.

Java moss and Christmas moss would both work quite well - I bought my starter pieces on ebay.

And you are almost guaranteed to get pond snails invading with any plant you get from a pet store, so make sure you quarantine the plants first! I had damsel-fly nymphs with mine too....

yeah they will diffenetly be quarantined. how much do yo think I should get? 3 golball sized pieces? (one for on top his house, one for his front lawn, and one for his background)

anyone chime in with a trusted website or ebay seller?

thanks guys!

I think there's a thread about ebay plant sellers around here somewhere. You could try looking for it?

Emmy has posted about these guys several times...
