He will regrow the gill and be fine with the remaining ones in the meantime. Keep him cool and in clean water to help him regrow the gill and treat him with salt baths in the meantime for the fungus if you haven't been doing so already

salt baths dont work and we found a treatment thats actually medicine and it does not harm the fish

Sam is absolutely right, axolotls are not fish and you should not think of them that way. Or are you suggesting that you keep fish in the tank as well as the axolotl?
Are you sure it was fungus?
In order to help you we need more information - although the gill may grow back the problem that caused the gill to drop off may still be present and could cause more damage.
Can you please provide pictures of the axolotl and it's tank and surroundings. Also, what does your axolotl eat?
Can you give us more information on the condition of the water, specifically temperature, and ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings if you have a test kit. If you don't have a test kit i suggest you get one asap
What else can you tell us? Does your axolotl have any tank mates? How long have you had him? What does he eat? How big is he?

The tank looks fine but I would get your water checked just to make sure.
I t definately looks like fungus to me though I cant be sure.
It is a definate no no to treating with any sort of medication which is designed for other creatures, axies have a special slime coat and this will be damaged by adding chemicals.
You say salt baths do not work!!
How do you do them? How long have you done them for?
This is the way they should be treated.
Put a coulple bottles of water in the fridge, allow them to chill right down and ensure they water has had chance to become dechlorinated as chlorine will also damage thier slime coat.
When the water is ready get a clean dish (plastic is best) that is big enough to fit your axie comfortably,
Pour enough water to cover the axies back and add a couple teaspoons of salt ( i use rock salt) when it is dissolved place you axie in it for approx 5-10 mins. you need to do this 3 times aday.
Get another container and place some more water in (no salt) place axie in this and either place in the fridge which is no lower than 5 degrees in temp cover the container to prevent escape a towel is best.If you cant place in fridge place somewhere cool and dark.
Keep doing this until the fungus is gone, remember to change salt water every bath and the other water daily.
If it is fungus this WILL clear the fungus.
I always bath an extra day to make sure.
