their guppies, fan tail i think
i know they are both male tho as the female is a lot larger and usualy orange!
if you want to breed these (and breed they do!!) you want about 2-3 females to each male! all the info youll ever need is here http://www.thetropicaltank.com
hope this helps

Maja - In your photo the guppies are a male (left) and female (right).

You can tell males from females at 4 to 5 weeks. The males have a modified anal fin called the gonopodium. And females have a dark patch called a gravid patch near their vent.

As mature fish such as the ones in your photo females have round full bodies.

Jon- Guppies come in lots of colors you can not sex them by color.

didnt say they only come in orange?
most of the females ive seen here in england tend to bee orange! or just dull flat coloured!
i couldnt see any anal finage on the fish to the right and thought the size differance was because of the perpective of the shot? and the 1 on the left is clearly male!

Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) with photos / pictures

http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/guppy.htm

the male and female are easily identifiable in that picture. I hope you have success in using them as food for your axies.
}Personally I would not use them as food any uneaten ones can pose a problem for the axies. They may nip gills, you already have them in a breeding box.

oh i almost always watch my axies eat, not if its shrimps or something like that. but with new food i do, wanna see if they can handle it..

Maja - You don't need to use the breeding traps for guppies. If they have their own tank ( as in not living with the axolotls) just get a thick clump of java moss for the babies to hide in and in a few months you will have more guppies than you need.

Be aware axolotls are not that good at catching guppies, and as Jeff said its not a good idea to leave guppies in the tank with the axolotls.

now 3fishes are dead, 2moms and the daddyfish.. and all my little fishes are gone.. :/ but my 2females thats left are getting big.. im gonna make a new tank for them, one thats a lil bigger..

yea,im hoping to get a few guppies to breed too, just for a treat every now and again.that java moss idea sounds like the go,and even if a few get eaten by the "olds" it could be looked at as population control, lol.I can see myself feeding the females, just because i like the males tails...

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
