Alright, a while ago both of my axies were sick. They got thinner, pooped a bit strange and also they almost lost all the 'frills' on their gills.

Now I broke the 'spell of sickness' and their gills are growing back pretty fast now.
It looks like Frangipane's gills haven't been this big in... a while. And Xotl's gills are on their way to become like they used to look on my avatar (also Xotl).

Here's a picture to share it with you. The last picture (Frangipane) was made 2 days ago, the gills (also Xotl's gills, but I can't see him at the moment because he thinks that new hide is awesome and he's in there for days) are slightly bigger now.
Finally, some lucky times :D I needed it.

Edit: Oh, and Xotl got pretty thin, but right now he has a little belly again :D

So, not that interesting. Sorry.

Glad to hear they are getting better! Did you find out what caused the illness after? or was it just one of those random things with axies that cant be figured out. :D

Flagellates (or other weird ciliates). But the medicine worked for both. And also both axies.
They are together in the same tank again (after a big while) and have new sand, plants and some extra hides and ornaments. Even a moss ball. Xotl loves them.

This is Xotl from the front (made this picture yesterday) and the gills look better, yay
And also Frangipane (also made this one yesterday):

They are looking much better than their before pictures. I am glad that you managed to get them healthy again and that they are doing well.
:D

Oh thats good to hear that you figured out what it was! Glad they are back together doing what axies do. Mine seems to like landing on his moss ball.

Xotl only has a toe where fungus likes to grow on. I do salt baths but it keeps coming back. But it's not that bad right now. But besides that they're awesome again. They nibble my fingers again and also are a bit more 'fat'. Not really fat, just normal instead of sick and thin looking.
Xotl didn't really play with the moss ball... yet. He's spending most of his time behind or in the plants or his hidey hole... (unless I make him come out with pellets dropped in front of the hidey hole. Pretty much works most of the time)

I think its more likely that he lands on it by accident but i like to think he enjoys it :D. Ha ha what axie can resist the lure of an easy pellet meal. Oh and i also get the dreaded recuring fungus now and then but mine gets it on his side then it just falls off. I keep wondering about using almond leaves or something similar.

Yeah, I think it would be a great idea to use that in my tank again. I still have some leaves over here. And maybe they like to stand on it and stuff.
I just saw Frangipane bumping the moss ball to the side of the tank "get out of my way! *bump*" and then she was standing there where the ball used to be.

So glad that they're getting back to normal now. I just missed their cute behavior.

It looks like it's just been snowing in the first picture!! Lol!

Thanks :D

They got some new sand and some of it ended up on the... tiny teocalli (Aztec temple thing). It's whiter than the sand I had before and yeah, sometimes it looks like snow :D

*Sigh* Now I have planaria all over... Rah, karma.

planaria? throw in some white cloud mountain minnows. cleared it up for me.

Cool. I hope my axies won't eat them.

... They probably will, but not right away. I started with about 20 white clouds, and three small goldfish. Everything was fine for the first few weeks... until I counted. I had 16 white clouds left. Now I've got 12 or 13, and two goldfish. They have an unfortunate habit of crowding around any pellets that fall into the tank, and we all know what happens to pellets.

Maybe I'll try that when my treatment doesn't work :)
(It looks like less planaria now. Maybe the Flubenol-treatment does work a bit...)

They're losing them again. Why is this always happening to me?
One more thing that's going wrong and I'll sell all my axies and quit keeping them forever.
I hate it!
