I don not know what it is. He is a new one, we only got him a week ago, and have put him in with our other 2. It is like he pooed out a white stringy thing, but not fully. i'm a bit concerned. Does anyone know what it could be?

Hi Kate,
there are some possibilities, hard to say without a picture.
I know of cases where female axolotl were unable to lay there eggs because no male was available. This caused the eggs to go to seed inside the animal. In this case she (if it is a she at all) should get rid of them as fast as possible.

Kate - Could you post a picture of it? It sounds like it could be a prolapse, but without seeing it I don't know.

It would be a good idea to separate this animal from your others. and move it to a small food safe container(with lid)in fresh dechlorinated water and put it in the fridge. Keep its water clean.

Keep water in the fridge to change its water with so it is the same temperature.

You should always quarantine new animals for 30 days before mixing them with your established animals.

I cant provide a pic sorry, as i dont have a digital camera or scanner. My dad has since removed the white thing, and it seems fine now. I'll take your advice about the fridge etc though, just in case. Thanks for your help.
