Hi all my eggs are going great and my female is still laying crazy hey. But I have 2 eggs about to hatch and more about a week or more behind. The two that are about to hatch are moving in the egg but its hard to tell how far along they have formed as the container I have them in makes it hard to see also there golden albinos so its even harder. I can see there head, tail and gills on each side. Is there a way to tell when there going to hatch as I would like to be home when they do. I have the temp sitting at 20 degrees celcius. In the pictures in the photo log on this site I think there at day 11 as they have changed from white to a yellowish color but that could just mean that there going to be goldens as mum is a golden albino.

Usually if they start wriggling around more that's one sign they almost ready to hatch. Mine took about 2 weeks from being laid to start hatching, which seems pretty standard from what I've read (based on temp being 18 - 20 deg C).

Will my ax eggs hatch on there own or do they need help? I have one which moves frantically every so often and has its colouring along the top something like its leucistic. and it looks like theres no egg anymore just a little jelly left he did have room to stretch but now hes all curled up again is he ok should I give him another 24 hours and then check again?

They will hatch when they are ready. They thrash around alot and then break free. I would come home from work to find 2 or 3 hatched. There is no way to tell when they are going to hatch. I would use a table spoon to lift them into a separate tub, every now and then I would accidentally knock an egg and the larvae would free itself, but I would not recommend doing this on purpose. They will break free when they are strong enough. Good luck!
