Here are my new axies! Both adults, one male and one female.

The tank is still a bit bare, but more stuff is coming in this week. Should be fun! If you guys have any suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them.

They look like they are in great shape. The one on the right in the last picture looks like it may be gravid, can you get any individual shots of just that one?

Oh, and I love the mad cow headline in that last pic as well.:D

Well that would be a surprise! That is the female, so I guess we will know soon! Good think I have raised larvae in the past.

Here are a few more shots, I would love to know what you think!

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if she laid eggs.

Your axies look so robust.

Ok, I have to ask. How in the world were you able to adopt these guys in such good shape? Obviously they were well taken care of beforehand.

I am a biologist at Washington State University and I received an ad through our department email for these guys (and immediately responded). The woman who had them was in another department on campus, was moving across the country and couldn't take them with her. I didn't know their condition, age, sexes or anything about them when I agreed to take them on, but you are right she did a great job with them. When she dropped them off she mentioned that she wanted a biologist to care for them, so I was sort of just lucky!

Haha, I love that the plants are just laying around toppled over. Axies are so good at decorating their own enclosures!

haha, yeah...

They are great at decorating. The plants might fare better with some substrate too (coming in later this week), but I fear they will still be disturbed. Ah wells!

I can't wait til my juveniles are big and plump like these guys. My 4 look so puny compared to your behemoths. lol.

They are beautiful! Congratulations.
They look really happy and healthy.
