Do you recommend using muslin cloth to cover a filter? I have an external over the top filter. I have young Axalotls which I feed baby brine shrimp.

I'm not sure I understand. Is the cloth to cover the filter INTAKE, so that it doesn't suck up the BBS? I think the cloth will still let the BBS go through. I would suggest turning off the filter for an hour after you add the shrimp, then turning it back on (setting an alarm may help if you are as forgetful as I am).

Yes, that's what I meant. Thank you so much. I have read about muslin cloth being used to cover the intake. I will take your advice and just turn it off during the feeding. Will the filter help to clean up uneaten baby brine shrimp and poo?

Yes, the filter will help clean up uneaten food etc. However, be sure to test for ammonia (which can still occur due to decay within the filter). And additional spot cleaning may still be needed.
