I just found two, tall skinny mushrooms in my Tylototriton kweichowensis tank. I like how they looks but do I need to pull them out?

Are they harmful to my newt?

After closer inspection, they're all growing next to or out of the pennywort I have in there that is slowly dying. Do I need to take evasive actions?

The mushrooms themselves are probably not harmful, but I do think you need to take action against the dying pennywort. Dead plant material isn't healthy to have around. I would remove the mushrooms just to be on the safe side. It sounds like it's time to replace or partially refresh your substrate.

I agree with Jennewt, It sounds like the substrate is to blame for the fungi, and probably the failing pennywort. Best of luck!
