I've always wanted a mudpuppy and I've read alot of fact sheets on them, but they aren't found in Australia. I heard you can purchase them online but I'm not sure, is it possible to purchase a mudpuppy from The States and have it shipped to Australia? - sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but I'm just curious and out of interest of having a mudpuppy as a pet...

thanks....

To the best of my knowledge, all caudates are illegal to possess in Australia except for axolotls, Ambystoma mexicanum.

I could very possibly be wrong, but I was under the impression that all caudates are illegal to possess including Ambysoma mexicanum, but people get away with keeping axolotls because they can pass as fish (to the untrained eye).

Any Australians have some input on the subject?

Jake, axolotls are legal in Australia and New Zealand, just not on Tasmania.
