I am interning at a learning museum in Ohio, and I am responsible for procuring 2 amphibians that would be good for a new exhibit coming out later this year. I know where I'll be getting a frog, but I'm just not having luck in finding a salamander or newt.

I am looking for something that is large and completely (or mostly) aquatic. After all the research I've done, I would really like a mudpuppy for our exhibit. They are really cool, large, and they have a lot of interesting facts about them that we can teach our guests about.

After all my work, I still have not been able to find a mudpuppy to use (I almost got one donated from O.S.U. but they had so little they did not want to part with them). Despite how much I would prefer a mudpuppy, I think I may be forced to look at more practical options.

And this leads me to the question: Does anyone have any suggestions for a large-ish amphibian that would be good for display?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide,

Bryan

Maybe you can find a large Pleuodeles waltl. I have seen these 10 inches long. The fact that the ribs are their defense is something people would like to hear about. And their water quality wouldn't be as hard to maintain as it would be for a mudpuppy or and Axolotyl

Greater sirens and amphiumas get very large and are ready availble, although they are WC. If you want a source for these let me know and I'll PM you the details.
