moving axie

hello, can anyone give me tips on removing my axie from his tank so i can take the gravel out and re do the tank with sand and pebbles. I tried the other night but he just freaked out.

They'll freak out, just be quick. A good way is with a large bowl, just scoop it up and put it in the bucket (filled with tank water). I use a net, but never keep the axolotl out of the water for more than a second or two.

What size pebbles? These can be just as dangerous as gravel. I've had axolotls bite (and thankfully spit out) pebbles up to 2 cm across.

Hi diannpf.

One of our axie swims onto my hand and allows me to gently lift him into his temporary storage the other one freaks out. I dip a jug into his tank he swims into it and the job is done.
